The D16 is Volvo's heavy-haul answer, and it spends its life at the loads and temperatures that expose anything marginal in a cooling or aftertreatment system.
Answering calls day & night across Miami-Dade and Broward. Se habla español.
A D16 is usually doing the work nothing smaller would take — heavy haul, oversize, the loads that sit at full throttle for long stretches. In South Florida heat that combination finds every weakness in the cooling system and pushes the aftertreatment hard. The engine architecture shares a lot with the D13, so the diagnostic approach carries over, but the duty cycle does not: a marginal radiator, a tired fan clutch or a partially restricted charge air cooler shows up on a D16 long before it would on a regional truck. That is where we start.
We test the cooling system the way the truck actually works it, not at idle in a yard.
D13 experience carries straight across, with the diagnosis adjusted for heavy-haul duty.
Heavy-haul routes across South Florida, the ports and the Turnpike, around the clock.
VNL 860 and heavy-haul Volvo tractors working out of Miami and the ports.
Most Volvos are the smaller D13, which shares much of this architecture. Brand-wide: the best Volvo truck mechanic in Miami.
Typical arrival is 45–90 minutes in Miami-Dade and 60–120 minutes in Broward. Heavy-haul work takes us out to US-27, Alligator Alley and the port approaches more than most, and we cover all of it.
That is a cooling system test, not a guess — call us and we will do it properly.
Power Diesel works D16 engines on-site across Miami-Dade and Broward, 24/7, with particular attention to cooling and aftertreatment under heavy-haul load. Call (786) 395-7263.
No. It usually means something marginal — a partially blocked radiator or charge air cooler, a tired fan clutch, or airflow restriction — that only shows up under real load. We test it loaded rather than at idle.
They share a great deal of architecture, so experience carries over, but the D16 lives at higher loads and temperatures and its failures show up differently. That duty cycle is what we diagnose against.
Yes, on-site, on the interval your service manual specifies for the rating and duty cycle.
Yes. We cover the Turnpike, I-75, US-27 and the port approaches around the clock, with a realistic ETA given on the call.
